Gift of Life by 19-year-old Marios

transplantationA 19-year old boy, who lost his life in a road accident with a bicycle on July 11 in Volos, became the guardian angel for more than five patients.
The parents of the 19-year old boy, Marios Souliotis, took a decision that shows the greatness of soul in a moment of indescribable pain and gave the permission for the donation of the liver, the kidneys, the heart and the corneas of the unfortunate young boy.
The organs were removed on the morning of July 12, and the transplantation procedure for the five patients, through whom Marios will continue living, is in progress.
Apart from Marios, a 63-year old man who passed away on July 11 from brain hemorrhage in the Papageorgiou Hospital gave life to three other people with his kidneys and liver.
The kidneys of the 63-year-old man were transplanted to a 46-year-old and to a 70-year-old in the Ippokrateio Hospital of Thessaloniki and in the Laiko General Hospital of Athens respectively, while his liver was transplanted to a 60-year-old man in the Ippokrateio Hospital.
