Phileas Fogg Shows Beauty of Crete

ccccc_541_355The island of Crete is reaching out to the ideas of the late writer Jules Verne for inspiration in a bid to lure more visitors.
According to the advertisement’s scenario, a director tries to convince a film producer to finance his new film, which is a contemporary version of Jules Verne classic novel: Around the World in Eighty Days. He describes the adventures of the leading character Phileas Fogg and he concludes that there’s only one place in the world to make the shooting: Crete.
Jungles as those of the Amazon, steep peaks as those of Nepal, emerald waters as those of Thailand… all these co-exist in only one part of the Earth, in Crete. This is the basis of the scenario of the new advertising spot for the promotion of tourism in the island.
“You drive from one end of the island to the other within four hours and you think that you have just been around the world,” the director says and shots form the most beautiful places of Crete, from the beaches, the mountains, the forests and the villages appear in front of the eyes of the viewer.
The work was done by a director from Chania on the island, Theodore Papadoulakis, using the vivid interpretation of the actor Nikos Orphanos as well as Glyn Jones and Antonis Paleriakis.
