When humanity meets tradition, the result is often. Breeders from the village Zoniana in Rethymno, just as they did last year, are making a giant cheese weighing a ton a venture they said was done in the name of solidarity.
On the initiative of the residents of the mountainous village and of the cultural association, the cheese will be distributed to the people who will be present at the Shepherd & Cheese Festival, which is organized for a 6th consecutive year at Zoniana.
The festival is organized by the village’s local bodies and with the support of the Region of Crete and the Municipality of Mylopotamos. Besides making a big feed for the audience, the project shows off the capabilities of the cheese industry in the region and the activities of the shepherds.
