A three-day experiential conference-reunion of Thessalians all around the world took place in Pyli Municipality, in Riza of the Pindos mountain, between mountains Itamos and Koziakas.
This was the fifth conference. Last year’s was held in Volos. The meetings aim at maintain relations of friendship and cooperation through a new institution.
“This year, the human force of our Thessaly is gathering and through this common experience we build bridges between the kilometers that separate us from each other,” the Mayor of Pyli said.
The Thessalians all around the world returned to their homeland, revived local customs, shared memories and dreams for the land’s future.
The hope is that the event will continue annually and help tighten bonds as well as with the stable cultivation of bonds and co-operation between Thessalians all around the world to remember their roots and origin.
“Through these reunions we want that an open hug will wait to receive our emigrant brothers and that we all experience these reunions as a big feast,” the General Secretary of the World Confederation stated.
The official opening of the Conference took place in the morning of July 27, at the Cultural Center of Pyli. After the speeches’ end, a symbolic olive tree planting was conducted. Medals and praises were awarded to all those who contributed to the event’s realization as well as to foreign visitors.
On July 28, after the church, the General Assembly of the members of the Confederation took place at the Pyli Town Hall, completing the works of the experiential conference of reunion.
