The Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP) is proceeding with the investigation of locating missing people in military zones in the regions of Nicosia and Kyrenia.
According to a publication of the newspaper POLITIS, these are specific areas where, according to testimonies of people who lived the events of 1974, there are mass graves of missing Greek Cypriots.
Exhumations in these areas should be completed or have progressed significantly by the end of 2013.
According to the agreement concluded within the CMP, it is provided that the committee will submit its requests or ask for explanations directly from the occupation army and not from the Greek-Cypriot side.
The whole process will be conducted under the close supervision of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
