Ex-Cypriot Minister Faces Arrest Over Greek Scandal

Tsochatzopoulos_trialA court in Limassol has ordered the arrest of former Cypriot former Interior Minister Dinos Michaelides to be extradited to Greece for questioning in connection with the bribery scandal involving ex-Defense Minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos who is on trial for money-laundering charges and other alleged offenses.
The Cypriot court rejected a request from Michaelides’ lawyer the suspect not be taken into custody because of health problems. On hearing the decision, Michaelides complained of feeling unwell and was taken to hospital.
The Tsochatzopoulos affair has dragged nearly a score of suspects into the case, including his cousin, Nikos Zigras, who has accused Michaelides of being involved in the scandal.
