September Best Month For Holidays in Greece

September is the month that many Europeans choose for their holidays mainly because of the lower prices. The prices in Greece present an important decrease of 15 percent compared to August, while at the same moment there is a significant increase compared to the previous month in most European capitals. These are the results of trivago Hotel Preis Index (tHPI) for the month of September.

A significant reduction can be seen as far as Greek tourism destinations are concerned, as September is not Greeks’ best month for vacation. Travelers who choose Mykonos will have to pay €134 for a double room per night (56% reduction compared to August), on Skiathos €40 per night (85% reduction), on Kos €56 per night (45% reduction) and in Agios Nikolaos in Crete €137 (26% reduction).
On the island of Rhodes the reduction reaches 31 percent compared to August and the average price per night is €86. In Chania prices are reduced by 18 percent with the average price for a double room per night being €74.
On the island of Ios the average price is €40, that is a 50 percent reduction compared to the previous month, while in Milos, the average price per night is €41, a 3 percent reduction.
The most expensive destinations for the month of September are Oia with an average price per night at €293, which is a three  percent reduction and Imerovigli, where the average price per night is at €257 and the reduction compared to the previous month is 13 percent.
In Athens, there is a price increase compared to the previous month at 9 percent with the average price per night at €88. In Thessaloniki, the increase reaches 16 percent and the average price for a double room is around €91 per night.
In Cyprus, the biggest price decrease can be seen in Paphos at 17 percent, with an average price for a double room per night at €150, while the biggest increase can be observed in Nicosia at 27 percent, with an average price of €140. The cheapest destination in Cyprus is Larnaca with an average price of €90, that is a reduction of 4 percent compared to the previous month, while the most expensive destination is Agia Nappa with an average price for a double room at €164 and a reduction of 4 percent.
Prices are increasing in popular European destinations. Milan is the most expensive at 59 percent with an average price of €199 for a double room. Munich is next, because of Oktoberfest, with a price increase of 53 percent and the average price being at €198 for a double room per night and Frankfurt with an increase of 56 percent and an average price per night at €148. In Seville, there is a 56 percent increase and the average price per night for a double room is at €103. Edinburgh is the exception as it presents a price decrease by 33 percent with an average price of €150 for a double room per night, while London has an average price of €204 per night, a reduction of 11 percent compared to the previous month.
Trivago Hotel Preis Index shows the average price per night in the most popular European cities. The price average for a double room is based on the one million daily price inquiries for a stay that are conducted through the system of hotel price comparison of trivago from 15 million unique visitors.
Trivago saves the searches every month and presents a general image of the hotel prices for the next month. tHPI reflects the hotel prices of the online hotel market of Europe. The prices per night from 100 online sites for bookings and hotel chains form the hotel price average for cities, areas and countries in Europe.
