Georgiadis Tells Doctors To Return Overcharges

D1E2F85DDD5F1DD2BB62A9A8532925F0Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis has sent a veiled warning in the form of an “open invitation” to the doctors who work for the EOPPY (National Organization for the Provision of Healthcare Services) as well as to the providers of the Organization, such as suppliers to return monies they shouldn’t have received.
If they do, he said, the state will deal more leniently with them as the government is in a frantic drive to raise as much cash as possible during a lingering economic crisis.
Investigators are trying to uncover overcharges and other dubious billing practices from physicians and suppliers and Georgiadis said it would behoove people to return what they owe before they are caught.
“We have made a preliminary discussion with the minister of Justice, so for the relevant provision to exist for all those who generally do business with EOPPY, not only the doctors, who may which take advantage of a more favorable framework by returning the money they shouldn’t have taken,” said Georgiadis.
