Greece Wants Diplomacy Over Syria

The "NeaPASOKcratia" government: Prime Minister Antonis Samaras (L) with PASOK leader Evangelos VenizelosGreek Prime Minister and New Democracy Conservative leader Antonis Samaras and his Deputy PM/Foreign Minister,  PASOK Socialist leader Evangelos Venizelos, said after a meeting that they would prefer a diplomatic solution to Syria’s ongoing civil war instead of a military strike by western powers.

But, they said they would also allow NATO to use its bases in Greece in case the decision is made to strike Syria via the air.

The meeting was defense-oriented with Finance Minsiter Yannis Stournaras also talking about the privatization plans for the state-owned defense industries (LARKO, ELVO and EAS).

In preparation for the possibility of refugee waves from Syria, an emergency meeting was scheduled at the Ministry of National Defense on the morning of Aug. 30 with the participation of the General Secretaries from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, the Interior, Public Order, Health and Shipping.

The leaders of the National Defense General Staff, Army, Navy, Air Force, Hellenic Police, Coast Guard, Fire Brigade and Central Intelligence Services are also invited to participate in the discussion.

The only “evidence” which the US government has upon which it is basing its claim that the Syrian government used chemical weapons is an “Israeli intercept” of a phone call, it has emerged.
According to an article in Foreign Policy magazine’s The Cable supplement, titled “Intercepted Calls Prove Syrian Army Used Nerve Gas, U.S. Spies Say” it is revealed that “Last Wednesday, in the hours after a horrific chemical attack east of Damascus, an official at the Syrian Ministry of Defense exchanged panicked phone calls with a leader of a chemical weapons unit, demanding answers for a nerve agent strike that killed more than 1,000 people.“Those conversations were overheard by U.S. intelligence services, The Cablehave learned. And that is the major reason why American officials now say they’re certain that the attacks were the work of the Bashar al-Assad regime — and why the U.S. military is likely to attack that regime in a matter of days.”The Cable is however not being perfectly honest here. As reported in the Guardian newspaper, it was not “U.S. intelligence services” who “overheard” the conversation, but actually the Israeli Defence Force.

The bulk of evidence proving the Assad regime’s deployment of chemical weapons – which would provide legal grounds essential to justify any western military action – has been provided by Israeli military intelligence, the German magazine Focus has reported,” said the Guardian newspaper.

In other words, exactly like the “weapons of mass destruction” lies put out about Iraq, the “intelligence” upon which the attack on Syria is predicated has come from the proven liars and Zionist Supremacists in Israel.

I love how Samaras and his fat clown Venizelos suddenly flip-flopped after they saw that Cameron & UK were bailing out of helping the US in Syria…
Ha! — What a pathetic joke these two insipid PASOK & ND phonies are!!

US just wants more oil fields & this whole thing was handled stupidly by Obama, who’s brought and paid for by the World’s New World Order in EU & US & their Bankers, who tell him what to do.

Useless demagogues. The guy on the right should be facing the same charges Papaconstantiou is now convicted of.

Does anyone really believe obama? And IF it’s true, I say IF, then why should we even care? Crazies killing crazies is good karma.

Seriously, has anyone seen the videos of summary executions and cannibalism? These are the people that omaba wants to support? Maybe he should show his face on the battlefield and get the summary execution of Islamist loving garbage.
