Unpaid: 1.1 Million Greek Workers

THLEFVNIKOKENTRO_533_355Greece’s crushing economic crisis, which has created a record 27.6 percent unemployment rate apparently has so many workers scared of losing their jobs that they are working without being paid for months.

The shocking data came from IKA’s Labor Inspectorate which said it found only 700,000 of 1.8 million workers in the private sector are receiving their regular – albeit reduced – salaries on time. It didn’t say if companies are taking advantage of the crisis by delaying salaries or not paying them at all, nor what would be done about the violation of Greek labor laws.

The delays in pay range from three to 12 months with some worker suspecting they will never be paid and that the government won’t do anything about it. This year, one million workers were also denied vacation pay.

The data shows that despite the law and the occasional fines on businesses who do not comply, complaints from employees are very rare, because they fear being fired and that it’s a lot cheaper for companies to pay fines than their workers.

Employees who are not getting paid should file lawsuits against their employers to get their salaries…If the 1.100,000 do just that employee’s rights won’t be violated again…

Greek have enough money hidden in their mattresses. Therefore cut the crap. All this is artificial. Greece has a wealthy population with smart people that played EU and IMF for its benefit. So screw you all….

Tsipras who idolizes Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavaz wants to turn Greece into the toilet hole that his idols created in those countries.

I rather vote for Samaras and Golden Dawn then let them destroy Greece…

Greeks spent it all on your spoiled kids lifestyle. There is no money, just Toula walking around in her short skirt, worn heels, a packet of Marlboro’s in her fake designer bag & iPhone 3, bitter at Germany for them not giving her daddy a pension & her ‘over 30 & useless’ pension & her unable to upgrade her phone.

Oh, she also hates the “Slavo Bulgarians” because Antonio has told her so but is willing to bonk one of them because she is bored.

Overspending is not the problem but over lending by the big Eurozone banks in a fractional reserve financial system. But sounds like a skop spreading 3 year old financial propaganda. Since they still spread early 20th century trying to usurp Northern Greece it shouldn’t surprise anyone. ECB is bailing out DB, Parabis etc via Irish, Italians, Greeks, Portuguese and Spaniards.

Greeks also keep a large supply of weapons and ammo underneath their mattresses so they can come and try to steal more from Greece and see what happens. Germany/EU made 1.2 trillion Euros off of So. Europe and Ireland and hundreds of billions off the UK. IMF is taking shares of Greek oil and Gas reserves. They are hardly played.

The Greek govt has been doing the same thing for years. They too owe money to IKA for their own employees so why wouldn’t the private sector take advantage of doing the same. When corruption starts at the top it drips to the bottom like diarrhea. Cure: put 2 bullets into each politician and judge!

If Greece needs more cash then why isn’t the TROIKA & PRESS asking where 250 million Euros went that PASOK & ND Parties took out in “phony” bank loans from their Banker cronies, and never even paid a cent back after 10 years?

Is that a show of their good Governance and Management skills?
Into whose greedy dirty pockets did the 100s of millions of Euros go into? Why isn’t the Greek Justice System & Press asking questions?
Could it be they are all in the same rotten bed together..?

No worry, come September there will be a “million man” Greek march on Parliament who will throw these slimy Politicians out of office and jail them!

I don’t dispute the corruption in the GK government. My post was responding to someone claiming the IMF/EU/Germany are “victims” of Greece despite IMF/EU/Germany being the biggest profiteers of the EU project (Trillions made). The Troika is not collecting any money from anybody directly they are just printing money from the ECB to pay off the major private Eurozone banks and give the bill to the peripheral EU countries public sovereign debt while simultaneously bailing out Northern Banks without passing the amount to their public debts.

WA: If this is true–and you suspect our friend Alex is misrepresenting himself by impersonating your handle on this sight–simply contact the owners of this news service or its webmaster.

I doubt if too many people will miss Alex’s tirades and verbal attacks on many of us who contribute to this forum if he is axed by them. He has crossed the line many times in the past–if you consider just the general by-laws and rules of such online discussion groups.

Of course it could be someone else using your name to degrade your real comments and try to immune you. But knowing the history of you two as strong opponents on certain issues–it does seem a logical possibility. There are some incriminating clues in the rants which do sound a lot like our intense friend.

The name “worldarts” is certainly not common and the fact that he can not duplicate your photo does raise the suspicion that our Mr. Alex is up to some highly unethical cyber etiquette–just to get even and play dirty. It is also true to form with the Alex we know that these comments spell out his classic repugnant personality.

  • Tonto

No–many of us do not believe this. Someone is masquerading as “worldarts.” It is obvious they do not use his iconic photo–and the rants are very psychotic and familiar–Alex!

I know a few friends this is happening to. Very sad that so many Greek employers are taking advantage of the crisis. This reminds me of stories during the occupation of Greece during the crisis where some were collobarting with the Germans. If this is true, and Greek employers are found to be withholding pay even though they have the means to pay, this is hurting Greek national security as it is adding to the poverty levels and in the end Greek government has to pay out more why these fat cat employers keep getting rich.
