Evangelos Venizelos Visits Egypt

Evangelos Venizelos is visiting Egypt and on September 5 he is to have meetings with top Egyptian officials.
The Vice President and Foreign Minister will meet the Egyptian president Adli Mansour, the Prime Minister Hazem el-Beblawi, the Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy, the Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil el-Araby, Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria as well as representatives of the political parties, investors and community representatives.
The central issue will be the situation in the country after the overthrow of Mohamed Morsi and the escalation of the violence observed over the last weeks.
Venizelos is one of the first European officials visiting Egypt, preceded by the Foreign Ministers of Cyprus and Germany, Ioannis Kasoulides and Guido Westerwelle, and by Catherine Ashton, EU’s first High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
