Earthquake Hits Crete

seismos_irakleio_394_355Crete was hit by a strong earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale at 07.59, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Institute.
According to the Athens Institute of Geodynamics, the vibration was of a 4.8 magnitude on the Richter scale.
The epicenter is located 55 km south of Heraklion and its focal depth was very small. According to the Euro-Mediterranean Institute this was just at 2 km, while Athens Geodynamics records the focal depth at 10 kilometers.
According to flashnews, the earthquake was stronger in Heraklion and Lasithi due to the tension and the small focal depth, and was felt in Chania and Rethymno as well.
So far, no problems or damage have been reported.
