Greek Journalist's Death Still Unexplained

XekoukoulotakisA newsletter in memory of  the Greek journalist Haris Xekoukoulotakis, which was published in June 2013, two months after his death, does not make any reference to the causes of his death, raising questions.
The text simply extols his work as a journalist, stressing that only after his loss did it become known and felt how valuable his work was, as well as his contribution to the institution.
The 41-year-old reporter became known nationwide through the Markogiannakis case in 2006. Christos Markogiannakis, the then Minister of Public Order, in his speech in the offices of the local organization of the New Democracy Party in Kastelli, Crete, had spoken derogatorily of the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Dimitrios Linos .
Markogiannakis refused that he had made such statements, but Xekoukoulotakis had an audio version of his  statements. When the tape came to light, Markogiannakis was led to resign, creating tremors in the New Democracy Party.
From that moment on Xekoukoulotakis started to express his fear openly, as he claimed that he was receiving death threats. This situation led him to flee Greece in 2008 and was introduced to the University of Brighton in the UK, where he worked as an International Officer in the UNISOR organization.
