Spetses Mini Marathon is Back!

Spetses-mini-MarathonAfter the huge success of last year’s Spetses Mini Marathon, where more than 2000 athletes visited the island to participate, this year more runners and swimmers are expected to participate, especially given that the 500 participations for the swimming race are already exhausted 35 days before the start of the race and more than 2000 runners have already applied for participation.
From Oct. 11-14, amateur and professional athletes of all ages and many children as well, will run, swim and experience together the intense feelings offered during the Spetses Mini-Marathon.
“Spetses Mini Marathon is a race which unites the entire island. The Municipal Authority, the institutional bodies, the professionals as well as the residents of Spetses, with more than 200 volunteers among them, are eagerly waiting to host the thousands of guests. This year, the race is further extended in order to offer the joy of sports and sportsmanship in a week end for all, framed with fun and many actions,” said the President of the Organizing Committee of Spetses Mini Mararthon, Marina-Lida Koutarelli.
The Mayor of Spetses, Panagiotis Lirakis, stated that, “Within three years we managed to prolong the tourist season of Spetses, which was always finishing after the Armata Fest. Now the tourist season continues until October, with very important benefits for the island.”
Spetses Mini Marathon consists of six sports which take place during the three days of the event: 5 km and 25 km races, 2.500 meters and 5000 meters and Children’s Games of running and swimming. All the sports will take place at the Poseidoniou Square, in front of the Poseidonion Grand Hotel.
