Greeks of the World at Herodeon

1096878A big concert dedicated to the Greeks who promoted Greece abroad with their work, the “Greeks of the World”, Theo Angelopoulos, Odysseas Elytis, Constantine P. Cavafy, Nikos Kazantzakis, Michael Cacoyannis, Maria Callas, Iakovos Kambanelis, Melina Mercouri, Yiannis Ritsos, Giorgos Seferis, Dionysios Solomos, Vassilis Vassilikos, Costas Gavras , Nana Mouskouri, Vangelis and Mikis Theodorakis will take place at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus on September 28.
The site of the Odeon will be filled with composers, poets, painters, singers and actors, for the celebration of the Greeks of the Diaspora, where Greeks who live abroad meet their homeland through art and civilization. The aim of this event is the creation of a sculpture for the Greeks of the Diaspora at Makrisia of Olympia, Elis, where for 23 years the Greeks who emigrated have been celebrating at the church of immigration Agios Ioannis in the beginning of August.
The concert includes a special, more extensive tribute to Mikis Theodorakis, who for the celebration of the Greeks of the Diaspora said: “In a way I feel an immigrant as well, because I have lived abroad for many years.” The artistic direction of the event and the presentation of the program has been undertaken by the lyricist Yiannis Tzouanopoulos, initiator of the celebration of Greeks of Diaspora in Makrisia.
