Police Arrest the Head of a Tax Department in Athens

eforia-280x250Yesterday, the officers of Internal Affairs  arrested a 61-year-old woman, the head of a tax office department in Athens. She is accused of accepting bribes and breach of duty.
She was caught accepting a bribe of 2,300 euros in order to speed up the tax return of 23,505 euros to a company. The Internal Affairs Office used pre-marked notes which were found on her desk in the department of tax office where she worked.
As revealed, one of her duties was to check the reports of tax office inspectors concerning applications for tax rebates from companies.
The 61-year-old was taken into custody and led to the prosecutor of Athens Misdemeanors court charged with accepting bribes and breach of duty. She was a Finance Ministry employee and will be charged with a criminal offense.
