Kammenos Urges: Vote Against New Austerity Measures

Panos KammenosPanos Kammenos, leader of Independent Greeks (the right-wing anti-austerity political party with 18 MPs in the Hellenic Parliament) earlier today, urged the MPs of the two government parties, New Democracy and PASOK, to vote against any new austerity measures that may be proposed.
As a guest on a morning program on the Antenna channel, Kammenos called on deputies of the two coalition parties that govern Greece to “overthrow the government,” if they don’t want any new measures to pass.
In addition, he underlined that the government has not expressed any serious backlash to troika’s demands. “This policy will not save us. I urge them to overthrow the government now,” he continued.
Kammenos admitted that he wanted to draw in Golden Dawn voters, who according to recent polls, have distanced themselves from the ultra-nationalist GD party following  the murder of Pavlos Fyssas, and the consecutive arrest of the party’s leadership.
He expressed his wish to establish an anti-bailout front with all the citizens who suffer from the austerity measures, including those who voted for Golden Dawn in the previous elections “as a protest.”
In addition, he brought up the “theory of the two extremes,” very popular in today’s political scene in Greece, he stressed that Champions of this theory of the two extremes, have no place in our party”.
