Anti-fascist Rallies and Events in Central Athens

20o campingOn Tuesday morning, the anti-fascist and migrant rights groups announced that they will organize a series of cultural events and a rally on October 26 in central Athens. The residents, the local community groups, educators and university workers will participate in the event.
The anti-fascist festival will begin with a rally at Victoria Square at noon on Saturday and will follow a march to the main square of Aghios Panteleimonas. The cultural happenings with musicians and street artists will be announced soon.
Thanasis Kourkoulas, the spokesperson of the Deport Racism activist group told journalists: “this action is scheduled to coincide with the revelation of the true face of Golden Dawn.” He also said that the far-right party is believed to be behind numerous attacks on foreigners and migrants-owned establishments in the central Athens, and especially in the area of Aghios Panteleimonas, the same spot the Golden Dawn member killed Pavlos Fyssas.
He continued by saying that “the objective is to reach out to residents and collective groups in Aghios Panteleimonas, which should be a place of creativity and solidarity, not of racist and fascist hate.”
According to the official announcement: “The Golden Dawn is not a political party, it is a Neo-Nazi criminal organization which took action because of the financial crisis in our country.”
