Warden Convicted for Stealing Students Mobile Phone

eviaThe Warden Security in Chalkida was sentenced to ten months for stealing a mobile phone from a 15 year-old boy. A second policeman was acquitted.
The single-judge court in Chalkida punished the warden with ten months imprisonment, suspension for three years, and deprivation of political rights for one year.
The incident took place in August 2009 in Chalkida, when the warden and a policeman ran to arrest a group of children because they were writing graffiti on walls. During the chase, the mobile phone of 15 year-old fell and eventually ended up in the hands of a passerby. He delivered it to the warden and subsequently the phone disappeared.
The family of 15-year-old sued two police officers for stealing. An case was formed against them while the sergeant denied that he stole the mobile.
Four years later, the case was heard in single-judge court in Chalkida. The Warden was then sentenced to ten months imprisonment, while the second officer was acquitted.
