“Luxury Tax” for Vehicle Owners

luxury tax-vehicle ownersThis year the owners of vehicles will be hit twice due to the implementation of the luxury tax, which be will imposed for vehicles with 1,929cc engines or larger and up to 10 years old.
More than 500,000 owners have to pay an extra tax of 5% to 10% on the value of their vehicle. The tax depends on the engine size and vehicle age. Greeks are suffering from the big taxes which Troika and the Greek Government had imposed. The domestic market has nearly collapsed, and this extra tax is the last thing that Greeks need.
The vehicle owners must log on to the website www.gsis.gr with their tax and registration details, where they will be able to print off the necessary documents. The owners have to pay the taxes at banks and post offices by the end of December. If they don’t pay it by the end of the year then the tax will be doubled. Furthermore, the owners have to keep the receipt of payment in order to prove that they have paid for the taxes.
