Art Exhibit in the Centre of Athens

art and the cityIt is the fourth time that the program “Art and the City” will host a group exhibition in a central passage of Athens. Specifically, on Friday November 8,  students and graduates of Athens School of Fine Arts will be placed in Spiromiliou arcade, and they will create engravings in the presence of public. These engravings will be presented in a public exhibition until November 16. The theme of this project is the city itself with the goal of bringing young artists closer to the public using elements of the city, in the heart of Athens. The artists will be creating publicly and the art will be exhibited in a specially designed installation inside Spiromiliou arcade.  On the last day of the exhibition, a special jury will choose three engravings that will be awarded with cash prizes. The awarding will take place on November 11.
Participating in the exhibition will be 18 artists. The event is sponsored by Piraeus Bank in collaboration with Athens School of Fine Arts, more specifically the engraving department. Aggelos Antonopoulos, associate professor, will be the coordinator, and historian  and critic of art Iris Kritikos, will be in charge of the project.
