ODYE: Three-hour Stoppage on Monday

court-stop-operationsOn Monday the courts of Greece will stop all operations from noon to the end of the 3pm shift. Judicial employees will protest for the lack of security in Greek courts following the stabbing of a magistrate’s secretary in Athens.
ODYE, the union which represents the judicial employees, announced the three-hour stoppage after the man attacked a woman with a knife. The 36-year-old woman was the secretary of an investigating magistrate in Athens’s main court on Evelpidon Street. The woman who was transferred immediately to a hospital has serious injuries.
According to the official report, ODYE demands better security measures for the courts of Greece in order to prevent future incidents like this.
