Woman Had No Idea She Was Pregnant Until Giving Birth

Woman-Had-No-Idea-She-Was-Pregnant-Until-Giving-BirthLast Friday, Antigoni Kokolaki, a 33-year-old woman from Crete gave birth to a girl without even knowing that she was pregnant.
Her husband Kostas Kokolakis, said to Greek Reporter, “We were married for ten years and had trouble having children. Antigoni, suffered from polycystic ovarian syndrome and her menstrual cycle was not stable. We wanted to do some medical exams but we couldn’t. My wife is unemployed for the last two years, and we didn’t have insurance to cover our expenses.”
Since last July, Antigoni was working as a seasonal employee in the municipality of Agios Nikolaos in Crete, and until the last moment of her pregnancy she was working regularly.
Last Monday the young mother began to feel pains in the abdominal area. Day after day these pains were becoming more intense. On Friday, Antigoni woke up at six thirty a.m as usual to go to work. However, that day would be different. The pains became unbearable and the woman was immediately transferred to the hospital for tests. At first, she thought that it was kidney stones, but after various examinations and ultrasounds, the doctors found out that the woman was pregnant.
“A doctor came out and told me that an X-ray showed something like a tumor (which eventually was the baby’s head). Then I began to think that my wife had cancer, not a baby! Luckily, we found a friend, who is a surgeon and he asked my wife to do blood tests for B-chorionic, an indicator that shows whether a woman is pregnant or not. That’s how we found out that Antigoni was pregnant and that she should have given birth two days ago!” said the woman’s husband.
The 33-year-old woman gave birth to a healthy girl weighing 3.360 Kg. She had a caesarean section as the birthing process had stopped; the delivery was delayed two days because of the pills she was administered to suppress her pain.
Her husband said that the woman had put on a lot of weight and that he was telling her to stop eating. She was also smoking during her pregnancy, except the last month that she had quit.
The happy mother from Crete is now relaxing at home with her baby, which the couple calls a miracle.
