Greek Universities Admin Employees Insist on Strike

universityThe administrative staff of Athens and Technological Universities will proceed with 24-hour strikes on Wednesday and Thursday. Despite the announcement of the new strikes, the Education Ministry appears optimistic about the outcome of the situation.
This estimate is based on two factors. Firstly the attitude of the employees is not as “tough” as the previous days. Secondly, the employees of Athens and Technological University decided to create a  joint committee including academic and administrative staff that will meet with the Minister of Education, Konstantinos Arvanitopoulos in order to ensure that no one will lose their job.
Meanwhile, with an amendment that will be voted on Wednesday, the Ministry of Education promotes a regulation which will prevent the invalidation of the academic semester. This is a very important move that is expected to help many students obtain their degree and to mitigate the impact of the mobilizations.
