TV Personality Petros Kostopoulos Arrested for Debts to the State

The host of the morning TV show of Mega Channel, Petros Kostopoulos, was arrested this morning for debt to the State. The trial was postponed for Wednesday.
The former owner of Imakao publishing company, presented himself to the police and surrendered. He was prosecuted for a misdemeanor of the first degree for debts of Imakao to the State.
He had earlier informed the channel that this morning, only his wife Jenny Balatsinou would appear on the show with some other partners. She justified her husband’s absence saying he had some urgent work to do and might not make it in today’s show.
Mr. Kostopoulos went to the court escorted by police officers without hadcuffs. When reporters asked him whether he has made any ​​arrangements for his debts, the former publisher claimed to have made ​​arrangements and has paid all of his debt.
The attorney of Mr. Kostopoulos stated: “He is the only Greek that has paid his debt with his own money.”
At noon, after he had been presented to the Three-Member Misdemeanor Court, he was released in order to prepare his letter of apology for tomorrow’s trial.
