Greek Ship Owner Victor Restis Out of Jail

Greek shipowner Restis Greek ship owner, Victor Restis, was just released from jail by the investigating judge. He had previously been accused of being involved in the case of unsecured loans allegedly granted to companies by FB Bank. Mr. Restis owned a large part of the bank’s equity’s and was the President of its Board of Directors.
The ship owner was arrested last July and is accused of embezzlement and money laundering that amounts to 5.8 million euros granted to him about a year ago by FB Bank as a loan. According to documents the money ended up in different accounts associated with him.
In a statement, his advocates, Michalis Dimitrakopoulos and Thanassis Kanellopoulos said that: “Mr. Restis will fight to the end to prove his innocence and at the same time will continue, with the help of all his employees, to work in Greece as well as abroad.”
Mr. Restis denies any involvement in the case of the unsecured loans and insists that the money ended up with his former partner, who hasn’t been found yet. Another pending case against Mr. Restis concerns a loan of 10 million euros granted by FB Bank as well.
