Ships Remain Docked Due to Extreme Weather

extreme weatherAccording to meteorologists, the extreme weather phenomena that started yesterday will continue for a couple more days. The strong winds have caused many problems throughout Greece, like fallen trees and branches that were blocking the roads and causing traffic jams.
The weather has also affected the maritime transportation. Today is the second day that the ships in the ports of Piraeus, Rafina and Lavrio remain docked. The Agia Marina – Nea Styra, Volos – Sporades, Kavala – Prinos, Thasos – Keramoti, and Rio – Antirio lines will not operate.
It is recommended that anyone who plans to travel by sea, should contact a travel agency or the port authorities for the latest updates and information on cancellations and replacement services.
In many coastal areas the wind is expected to exceed 100km/h. However, the weather will improve by the weekend.
