Athens University Finally Ends Strike

universitiesAfter today’s meeting, the board of administrative employees of Athens University, announced the end of the strike.
Following this decision it is expected that the institution will start operating as of Friday, December 13.  According to the Senate, courses will begin on Monday, December 16.
The board of the administrative employees stated that in yesterday’s meeting where two new 24-hour strikes were announced, there was no quorum.  Therefore, the board announced the end of the strike.
On Wednesday, the strike committee of the administrative  employees filed a censure motion against the board, upon which a vote was decided. However, the participation was weak and ended with no results.
The strike of administrative employees of Athens and Technological universities started in September, due to the government’s plan for dismissals.
