Man Killed in House Fire in Athens Greece

A 58-year-old man was killed in a fire that broke out in his apartment early in the morning today in Kato Patisia, Athens. The Greek fire brigade was notified a few minutes after 2am, by residents nearby.
Fire-fighters rushed to the scene of the fire, after desperate calls for help rushed in from the residents of apartments on the same floor as the one that was on-fire; the blaze was also a threat to neighboring houses.
Six fire engines and eighteen fire-fighters arrived directly on scene in order to extinguish the fire.
A neighbor of the deceased 58-year-old man stated on newsit that “we could not breathe as the smoke was all over the house. It was impossible for us to get out.”
Unfortunately, a few hours later the fire-fighters found the dead body of the 58-year-old man who lost his life due to the fire. The deceased 58-year-old man was the owner of the apartment.
According to some sources, the fire started from the kitchen but the cause is still under investigation.
