Giant Kourabies wins place in Guinness Book of Records

kourampies_The giant kourabies or Greek Christmas cookie taht was prepared by a team in Northern Greece eventually exceeded 300 kg. The giant cokie will be eaten on Sunday in the Asterokosmou park at the International Exhibition Center in Thessaloniki, claiming a place in the Guinness Book of Records.
The stunning Christmas cookie was made yesterday afternoon and far exceeds the limit of 200 kg which was required for a place in the record book.
The event which was held at the outdoor Pavilion 15, was attended by his Holiness Metropolitan Anthimos of Thessaloniki, the administration of TIF-Helexpo and crowds of visitors.
The TIF-Helexpo, connecting Greek culinary traditions with the festive mood of the day, collaborated in the creation of the kourabies with popular confectioner Angelos Ypokamisas, a member of the Bilderberger Confectioner group in Greece.
The kourabies was made with 150 eggs, 100 kg of sugar, 150 kg of flour, 70 kg of butter, four liters of cognac and 30 kg of almonds. It was created in sections and then assembled into its final half-moon shape.
