Greek PM Message for the New Year

samarasThe Greek Prime Minister, Antonis Samaras stated during his message for the New Year that, “The difficult part is behind us, 2014 will be the first year of growth. In 2014, Greece will venture out to the markets. In the new year, the Greek debt will be officially declared viable, meaning there will be no need for new loans and new bailout agreements.” Crucially as well, he vowed that the recovery will create new job opportunities.
He continued, “We don’t have to ask for loans each month. We have achieved a primary surplus, something that no one expected.” Addressing all Greek citizens, the Prime Minister said, “I want to thank you. As a society we have had difficult times. The worst is now behind us.”
Antonis Samaras also referred to today’s terrorist attack on the home of the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany. He spoke of the “cowardly” attack and linking it to the beginning of the Greek EU Presidency said, “Anyone who tries to undermine our stability shows their hatred for Greece.”
He stressed that 2013 was Greece’s zero point and stated that “we have put an end to Greece’s downfall.”
