The doctors union of EOPYY, the main healthcare provider in Greece, announced its intention to extend its strike from January 7 to January 10 and has called on all of its members to participate in order to protect the “decency of the sector.” The union also explained that emergency incidents will be handled by security staff.
The extension of the strike was announced yesterday when the doctor’s representatives expressed their disappointment regarding the progress of negotiations, after their meeting with Antonis Bezas, the Deputy Minister of Health and the Panhellenic Medical Association.
The doctors of EOPYY have reiterated that the proposed terms of their inclusion in the National Health System are insulting and that the government’s ultimate aim is to force them out.
