The Cyber Crimes Unit of the Greek police have arrested a 30-year-old man on Tuesday morning for possession and distribution of child pornography via the Internet, according to theĀ Greek newspaper TA NEA.
After presenting evidence and acquiring authorization to monitor the suspects electronic communications, the Cyber Crimes Unit gathered evidence for illegal activity using specialized software for tracking users handling such files.
The investigation has revealed that for over a month, the suspect used five different and unique IP addresses and special file sharing programs in order to distribute via the Internet, 134 files containing child pornography.
While searching his home in Maroussi in Athens, Greek police found and seized two computer hard drives and an equal number of external drives containing large numbers of files with child pornography.
The items were seized as evidence. Greek police are planning to send them to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for laboratory tests. The 30-year-old man has appeared before the Prosecutor in Athens.
