It would appear that men from the Greek rural city of Trikala are extremely popular among women. According to information provided by the local registry office, in 2013 there were 249 marriages, four more than during the previous year.
What makes these numbers so unusual though is the fact that the majority of the marriages were between Greek men and foreign women. Three women from Albania married men from Trikala, as did women from Bulgaria, Serbia, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, the Dominican Republic and the U.S.
The ladies of the city were arguably less lucky, one marrying a Frenchman and the other a Romanian.
We can only wish them “vion anthosparton,” as they say in Greece!
