Greeks Favor Youtube

social-mediaMaybe the social media infiltrated Greek society with a little delay, but now, they are a huge part of the everyday life of the Greeks.
According to a survey that was carried out by the E-Business Research Center (ELTRUN) of Athens University of Economics and Business, YouTube is the most popular site among the Greek users of the web. The survey was conducted with the participation of 1,250 users of the so-called social media.  What is notable about this survey is, that the Greek users do not use either Facebook or Twitter as much as someone would expect, taking into account the popularity of those two sites. On the contrary, Greeks prefer other, less popular social media such as Linkedln, Instagram, Foursquare, Flickr and Google+.
These findings can be justified if we consider the way of living and the needs of the people in Greece nowadays. With the Greek unemployment at sky-high levels, Linkedln is a useful tool for those who are in search of a job.
The survey showed that 93% of Greeks prefer YouTube. In second, comes Facebook with 82% and third, is Linkedlin with 61%.
Why YouTube?
The majority of the Greek users prefer YouTube because it gives them the ability to listen to their favorite music whenever and wherever they want to. In addition, many Greek users consider YouTube as a basic tool for searching information about anything they like. Basically, YouTube is a search engine that belongs to Google. Another interesting aspect, is that many Greeks (30%) use YouTube as an alternative information source for catching up with the latest news.
