New Greek App 'Clean Thess'

New-Greek-App-Clean-ThessEvery day, the citizens of Thessaloniki, Greece, encounter ruined fountains, slogans painted on the walls of public buildings, broken water pipes and streets full of garbage. This is the scenery with which the citizens of Thessaloniki have become accustomed.
Many of them protest as a way to express their frustration, but they do not know to whom they should address in order to report the problem.
“Clean Thess” is a new application offering an answer to the problems that Thessaloniki’s citizens face every day and to help them keep the city clean.
This application was designed by the non-governmental and non-profit making organization “PRAXIS” which was founded in 1995 in Serres, Greece. With this app, citizens of Thessaloniki through their smartphones, can locate the problem and then describe it through research’s app or webpage (www.cleanthess.gr). In this way, citizens can file a report which is being sent to a group of experts who are trained to evaluate them (true from false) and send them to the responsible authorities in order to find a solution.
Regularly, the same group of people are analyzing the received reports, linking them with the reaction of the public services. The results of this research are published in the app (statistics) and webpage of “Clean Thess.”
This joint action was successfully applied in the London 2012 Olympic Games for the first time. The application has already become really popular and is called “Love Clean London.”
