Car Registrations Up 16.6% in February

Car registrations jumped 16.6% in February (passenger car registrations rose 14.6%), to a total of 6,644 units (new or used ones), up from 5,699 units in the same month last year, Greece ‘s Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) said on Friday.
The statistics service, in a report, said that car sales were up 6.7% in February 2013 (passenger car sales were up 7%).
Car registrations in the first two months of the year totaled 15,765 units, up 17.4% from the same period last year (passenger car sales were up 15.9%), after falling by 19.8% in the first two months of 2013 compared with 2012.
The statistics service also said that motorcycle registrations totaled 1,697 units in February, up 4% from the same month last year, after a 30.2% jump recorded in February 2013. In the January-February period, motorcycle registrations totaled 3,543, up 6.3% from the same period last year.
