The parliamentary group of Greece’s major opposition party, SYRIZA, decided that the party’s MPs will vote in favor of the immunity lift of Golden Dawn’s MPs, after a similar recommendation was made by SYRIZA’s political secretariat last week.
However, during the discussion between SYRIZA’s parliamentary group, many MPs raised concerns on whether the party’s MPs should support the immunity lift of the Golden Dawn MPs. This is something that the secretary of SYRIZA’s parliamentary group, Nikos Voutsis has already made clear as he believes that there is a big difference between lifting the immunity of some MPs and the Greek government’s attempt to outlaw Golden Dawn in an indirect way, an attempt that SYRIZA is strongly opposed.
Manolis Glezos, Zoi Konstantopoulou, Alexis Mitropoulos, Panagiotis Kourouplis and Ioannis Michelogiannakis are some of SYRIZA’s MPs who disagree with the decision that the party’s parliamentary group took earlier.
The parliamentary group of the major opposition agreed on expressing and discussing these concerns during the Greek Parliament’s plenary session regarding this matter. In particular, SYRIZA’s MPs will denounce the Greek government’s manipulations that are targeting to outlaw the Greek neo-Nazi party, Golden Dawn.
