Credit Card Scam Revealed in Thessaloniki

Man in a barThessaloniki police have revealed a credit card scam after arresting three foreign nationals alleged to be members of a criminal organization.
The defendants are two Australians aged 35 and 28, and a 24-year old from Hong Kong who have been charged with conspiracy, fraud, forgery, embezzlement and with violation of personal information and drugs law.
The members of the gang have been allegedly traveling to various countries where they were enjoying a lavish lifestyle and luxurious products and services by using counterfeit credit cards, belonging to people from Australia and the U.S.
According to the Greek police announcement, the gang was hacking into hotel computers, gaining access to credit card information belonging to Australian and U.S. customers. Furthermore, they have been stealing information from loan companies in Australia and were using them to counterfeit credit cards.
The defendants were recently staying in a luxury hotel in Thessaloniki, where they were arrested on Wednesday evening, April 2. The police also found two luxury cars in a parking lot in Thessaloniki which had been rented and stolen by the gang.
