During her visit to Athens Friday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel met various captains of Greek industry.
Greece has more opportunities than difficulties, Merkel said in her opening remarks at a meeting of Greek start-up companies during a one-day visit to Athens on Friday.
Highlighting sectors such as agriculture, tourism and services, Merkel spoke of the challenge of attracting funding and taking advantage of new technologies.
The German Chancellor said Germany and Greece were ready to contribute to the funding of small and medium-sized businesses.
She noted also the need for entrepreneurial transparency to ensure that the money would not always go to the same people or to consortia.
Accompanied by her financial advisor Lars Hendrik Reler, and Greece’s Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, himself accompanied by the Minister of Development, Competitiveness, Infrastructure, Transport and Networks Kostis Chatzidakis, initially met with a group of Greek entrepreneurs, representatives of enterprises and institutions including:
