Greek State to Stop Funding Unregistered Entities

Public Sector EmployeesAs of May 1st, the Greek state will stop funding about 500 private legal entities that didn’t register in time for its latest census.
According to official figures, about 900 private legal entities employing some 32,000 people have submitted their details. However, for those working at the unregistered entities, their future remains vague, as they don’t know yet from whom they will be paid.
The census of all Greek private legal entities has been among Greek government’s commitments to the troika and as mentioned at the European Commission’s report, it was due by April 30. The secretary-general of administrative reform, Dimitris Stefanos, has sent a circular to all ministries reminding them about Greece’s commitment and stressing that unregistered entities’ funding must be stopped as of Thursday, May 1st.
As for the private legal entities who registered on time, from now on their employees will be paid from a single payment authority that will dispense public sector wages. Those employees will also comply with the new pay scale for the public sector that will be implemented in January 2015.
