Military Officers Quit to go Abroad

officers

Many superior officers of the Greek military forces are choosing to immigrate to foreign countries in order to attain higher living standards.
The number of military officers who are choosing to shed their uniforms and bid farewell to their families to move abroad is gradually increasing. The officers stress that they can’t handle the financial and moral discredit that they are faced with on a daily basis.
The president of the National Federation of the Military Union, Anestis Tsoukarakis, said that the consequences of the financial crisis have driven the most qualified members of the Greek Navy and Air Forces to seek a better future in foreign companies.
Greek officers are seeking new work environments with decent working conditions inside and outside Greece, due to the fact that they are frequently devalued by the Greek government which deprives them of their basic rights. They often enjoy fewer privileges compared to other civil servants and recently all the facts concerning their salaries, pensions, insurance data and working contracts have abruptly changed.
