Athens, Greece is included among the Top 10 metropolises for selfies. Athens was ranked 10th given that the historical monuments of the city such as Acropolis, the temple of Olympian Zeus and the picturesque streets of Plaka and Thisio are the ideal places for a selfie.
London managed to beat off cities including New York, Amsterdam and Barcelona to be named the selfie capital of the world. The city’s landmarks Big Ben, the London Eye and Buckingham Palace are the most irresistible locations for locals and visitors to capture a self-portrait. It is estimated that more than 14% of selfies were captured in London.
New York and Amsterdam are in second and third place, with Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, the Rijksmuseum, and the Van Gogh Museum being the most popular locations for a selfie.
The cities that complete the top 10 are Barcelona, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Sydney, Istanbul, and the Greek capital. The selfies (self-portrait photographs) are the latest trend in the social media, such as Instagram or Facebook.
