Προεδρικό Μέγαρο //.Presidential PalacePresident Nicos Anastasiades has expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the Greek-American community in the US for their contribution to the historic visit of the US Vice President Joe Biden to Cyprus, according to the Cyprus News Agency.
CNA reports that President Anastasiades spoke on Friday to each of the leaders of the Greek-American community, who participated on Monday in a meeting with Biden and his National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and thanked them for their significant contribution towards Biden’s visit to the island on May 21-22
Describing Biden’s visit to Cyprus as a historic milestone in Cyprus-US relations, Anastasiades thanked the leaders of the Greek-American community for their contribution and that of expatriates living in the US.
The members of the Greek-American community had asked Biden on Monday to act in such a way so that his meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu in the occupied areas of the island would not be politically exploited by the Turkish side and would not upgrade the illegal regime in Cyprus’ occupied areas.
Anastasiades also spoke with Archbishop Demetrios of America, who is currently in Jerusalem, accompanying the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at his meeting with the Pope.
