Greek Paralympic athlete Giorgos Sifakis, who was injured during the course of his training, died on Sunday.
The 40-year-old athlete was being treated at the Iraklio hospital in Crete with head injuries.
The athlete was training for a race on a stretch of highway outside Iraklio on the southern Aegean island on May 16 when he was hit by on oncoming car, suffering multiple injuries.
The athlete was confined to a wheelchair 17 years ago after a motorcycle accident resulted in partial paralysis.
