4th Athens Open Air Film Festival

Greek-Open-air-CinemaGreece is famous for its islands, beaches, and ancient monuments, but a lot of visitors have also come to appreciate its unique open air cinemas. Thanks to the ideal climate of the country, open air cinemas have flourished all over Greece for years, while some are built on magnificent locations with great views. For example, if you ever find yourself watching a boring movie in Cine Thision, you can relax, look up, and admire the view of Acropolis.
However, open air cinemas have been hit by the Greek financial crisis. Therefore, the 4th Athens Open Air Film Festival is a good opportunity for Athenians and visitors to attend free screenings of classic films. The screenings will include various modern and old-time classic movies, starting on June 20 and continuing through September 4.
The screenings will take place at Athens’ most notable open air movie theaters, and also in some more unusual places such as the park of Nea Smyrni, the Monetary Museum, the Dionysiou Areopagitou pedestrian street, and the Byzantium and Christian Museum.
Citizens and visitors in Athens will have the chance to enjoy free screenings of movies such as “Groundhog Day” by Harold Ramis, the classic musical “All that Jazz” by Bob Fosse, and even Woody Allen’s masterpiece “Crimes and Misdemeanors.”
