Increase in Sex Drug Sales During Greek Crisis

In times of crisis, couples usually spend more time with each other. However, the Greek economic crisis seems to have taken a toll on people’s sex drive. In fact, it has led to an increase in sex pill sales which are helping Greek men keep up…
Experts note that Greek men’s libido has dropped amid the economic crisis, driving them to seek pharmaceutical help. At the same time, the drop in prices has made such aid much more accessible to men.
According to data released by IMS, an electronic platform which keeps records of drug sales, the sales numbers of three drugs used to treat erectile dysfunction have shown a slight increase since troika first arrived.
Specifically, in 2009 Greek pharmacies sold 897,000 pieces. In 2010, sales increased to 899,000 packs, in 2011 896,000, 825,000 in 2012 and 909,000 packs of pills in 2013.
The numbers above concern just the three original erectile dysfunction pills, without taking into account the numerous generic drugs which have been appearing everywhere since the patent of the originals expired.
However, the shift of Greek men and especially 40-year-olds towards sex pills, even amidst the Greek economic crisis, is no accident. Greek men who are in their most productive years, are expected to face erectile dysfunction problems due to stress note Greek doctors.
Furthermore, according to the Research Association of Human Sexuality (EMAS), after turning 40, one in two men  will have an erectile dysfunction episode at least once in his life.
