The first heatwave of the summer to hit Greece is expected within the next few days country with temperatures reaching 39C.
The heatwave will initially hit Western Greece with temperatures escalating to 34C.
On Wednesday temperatures will reach 36C-38C and on Thursday the heatwave will spread to the southern and eastern parts of the country, with temperatures going up to 39C.
“The climate changes despite the fact that we do not observe it frequently in our everyday lives,” said department director at the National Meteorological Center Chryssoula Petrou to ANA-MPA adding that temperatures will start to fall as of Saturday when northerly winds will cool down heat-stricken areas.
