Neither the reduced budget nor the financial crisis of Greece could stop Athens Festival from hosting the famous star Isabella Rossellini from joining it. She will perform “Green Porno” at the theater Piraeus Street, Nr 260.
Green Porno was inspired, written and performed by Isabella Rossellini and is a story about the sexual behavior of animals. It was initially released on the internet, followed by a successful short film series. Greek Porno is now a theatrical monologue performed by Isabella Rossellini. The monologue was first performed in France last year. During its world tour, ‘Green Porno’ will make a stop at the Athens Festival from June 24 to 26.
“It’s an artistic approach of sexual behavior adopted by non-mammals and the script is based on a scientific background,” stated Rossellini and referred to the ethos lessons she has been taking, adding “I always consult specialists in the matter.”
The 62-year-old daughter of Roberto Rossellini and Ingrid Bergman would go on to become David Lynch’s high priestess and a model, but never lost her interest in nature and environment which became her main source of inspiration for movies and scenarios based on animals.
The idea of writing about the sexuality of animals came to her from a book her father gave her. “When I was 14, my father gave me “King’s Solomon Ring” as a present and inspired my love for animals, which has been my life-lasting love,” Isabella Rossellini admits. She also noted “There are so many great animal documentary films out there, I couldn’t possibly compete with the them. However, I wanted to create something of my own, so I wrote Green Porno, focusing on the humorous aspect of sex rather than the scientific part.”
Isabella Rossellini also referred to Greece saying “I am an Italian grown up in Rome and I have always been fascinated by our common origins and the similarities between the cultures of Rome and Athens.”
