Parthenon Marbles Removed for Exhibition Purposes

An exhibition on ancient Greece will take place at the new Sainsbury Exhibitions Gallery section of the British Museum in London next spring.
According to an article by Anita Singh in the British newspaper The Telegraph, “The Elgin Marbles are to leave their current home at the British Museum. Unfortunately for those who believe the treasures should be returned to Greece, they are not going very far.”
The marbles are being relocated from one part of the museum to another, for the needs of an exhibition dedicated to the treasures of ancient Greece. A delicate operation for their removal and transfer is taking place.
The controversial ancient treasures, officially known as ”the Parthenon sculptures,” have been housed in the museum’s Duveen Galleries since 1962.
